The 3M ™ Shielded Controlled Impedance (SCI) cable assembly system is a high performance transmission line using 50 Ώ coaxial cable or 100 Ώ twinaxial differential cable. When used with standard 2 mm latch/eject headers for multi-GHz cable-to-board applications, the SCI connectors save valuable board real estate without sacrificing performance when compared to BNC or SMA connectors. This particularly true for applications where multiple high-speed coax or twinax cable-to-board connectors need to be bundled together. SCI provides a high speed cable-to-board solution – up to 5 Gbps with standard pin headers and up to 10 Gbps with a controlled impedance header. This solution is ideal for a variety of high-performance or high-signal integrity cable-to-board applications. These include electronic equipment for industrial control/factory automation, medical, test instrumentation, broadcast, video post production, as well as avionics and defense industries.
