Industrial systems are often located in a harsh climate or where the equipment will see wide temperature extremes and have limited air-flow. Industrial automation applications have very specific requirements for memory solutions. In addition to longevity and availability of products, ruggedized designs are also required to withstand the harsh operating environments. Typically, the industrial computer system is encased in a metal or EMI proof housing further reducing air flow. Such computer systems are often used for applications such as data collection, machine control, monitoring, and programming.
