TDK’s Serial Design capacitors are offered EIA case sizes ranging from 0603 to 0805, capacitance ratings up to 100nF, and in voltage ratings from 50V to 100V. It is available in the X7R temperature characteristic. The serial construction or floating electrode design of the inner electrode prevents sudden insulation breakdown after a flex crack formation. Also, the addition of a soft termination layer absorbs external stress and protects the ceramic body. The combination of these technologies yields improved voltage and ESD performance over standard designs, and decreases risk of short circuit failures and low IR due to mechanical flex cracks. Soft termination also allows for better performance with thermal expansion and contraction.
