Having three high-speed USB ports is unique and offers significant advantages over the USB OTG peripherals that can be found on the market. Considering the growing need for connectivity, users can connect a Wi-Fi/BT module on one port while keeping two others for a mouse or keyboard, and a USB key. As a reminder, high-speed (HS) USB 2.0 has a maximum theoretical speed of 480 Mbit/sec., whereas full-speed (FS) USB 2.0 has a maximum theoretical speed of 12Mbit/sec. All SAMA5D3 USB ports have an integrated transceiver. No external PHYs are required. The SAMA5D3 is different than the SAM9x5 series; the SAMA5D3 features three HS Hosts, the SAM9x5 offers two HS Hosts and one FS Host.
