Everyday people leave their homes and offices with adapters plugged into the AC source but not connected to anything. Although the adapter is not connected, it still consumes energy. This is defined as a no-load condition. Under a no-load condition, the unit must consume minimal amounts of power: less than 0.3 watts for adapters under 50 watts and less than 0.5 watts for 50 to 250 watts.
