For the ice maker there are a few more choices. If the water is turned on and off and the tray is flipped by a solenoid, select a part based on the supply voltage available. The LV873x family is the choice for a 24 V solenoid. If a DC brush motor is used the designer will need to know if a three line or four line control interface is used and if the higher performance of the LV prefix parts is needed. Many new designs are moving to the FET drivers for lower heat generation than their bipolar counterparts.
