TAZ SideKick 3D Printers

LulzBot’s TAZ SideKick incorporates features that make 3D printers more modular and easy to use. There are two different sizes and three different models available: the TAZ SideKick 289, 747, and 747 Red Limited edition. LulzBot has designed these printers with users' ease of use in mind by building in features that allow simpler setup and customization. The TAZ SideKick printers feature the universal toolhead mounting system and toolless print head exchange, which allows further customization and capabilities of the printer by allowing users to change out for any other single extruder heads from LulzBot without needing a set of Allen wrenches. LulzBot’s direct-drive offers superior flexible material printer performance which allows users to print with flexible filaments of various hardness levels ranging from a typical pencil eraser to a construction site hard hat.

The TAZ SideKick 289 features a build volume of 162 mm x 162 mm x 181 mm (6 3/8" x 6 3/8" x 7 1/8"), while the TAZ SideKick 747 and TAZ SideKick 747 Red Limited edition feature a 231 mm x 231 mm x 248 mm (9" x 9" x 9 1/4") build area. As most 3D printer users know, the most important aspect of the 3D printer is the foundation that the prints are built upon. The standard TAZ SideKick 289 and 747 both come with a borosilicate glass with PEI surface while the TAZ SideKick 747 Red Limited edition comes with an Octograb™ removable magnetic bed which also has a PEI coating. The PEI film ensures the first layer will lay down very well. The Octograb removable magnetic bed on the TAZ SideKick 747 Red Limited edition allows users to easily remove prints by removing and flexing the bed which releases the prints.

All three printers come with the SK175 toolhead, a gLCD controller, and a genuine ANTCLABS BLTouch for automatic bed-leveling. The TAZ SideKick 289 has a 9-point auto-leveling system, while both of the TAZ SideKick 747s feature a 14-point leveling sequence. The TAZ SideKick 747 Red Limited edition has some extra features over the standard two versions, including a filament runout sensor and a premium tool kit. All three of the printers feature whisper-quiet operation which allows users to use them in many places where 3D printers have not been able to be used in the past, such as classrooms, libraries, and offices. This is accomplished by their belt drive and Trinamic driver controllers. LulzBot printers are proudly made in the USA. The TAZ SideKicks are made up of over 50% 3D-printed parts. LulzBot has also developed a 3D printing curriculum called LulzLessons, which is a free K-12 STEM/STEAM curriculum. LulzLessons include everything from grading rubrics to worksheets, files, and even comprehensive lesson plan overviews.
