 ADI's MAX49925 is a bidirectional CSA with an input common-mode range that extends from -40 V to +76 V, making it suitable for 48 V HEV applications with large automotive transients, induction motor applications (such as robotics), pick-and-place machines, 3D prints, or other servo motor control systems. This CSA has an extended input protection range of -42 V to +80 V against reverse-battery and high-voltage spikes. The wider input protection range also helps relax TVS requirements, lowering BOM cost and reducing component size. It is well-suited for phase-current monitoring of inductive loads, such as motors and solenoids, where pulse-width modulation (PWM) controls the drive voltage and current. It uses an improved technique to help reject common-mode input PWM edges with slew rates up to and beyond 500 V/μs. It operates over the full -40°C to +125°C temperature range and runs from a supply voltage of +2.7 V to +5.5 V. It is available in a 3 mm x 3 mm, 10-pin TDFN package with side-wettable flanks.

The MAX49925 evaluation kit (EV kit) is a fully tested and assembled circuit that demonstrates the capabilities of the MAX49925, such as servo motor control and solenoid drive. The MAX49925 EV kit is available in a 2” x 2” PCB and operates over the automotive temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. This EV kit demonstrates the MAX49925 in a 10-pin TDFN package, with four gain options 10 V/V, 20 V/V, 50 V/V, 100 V/V by the combination of the Gain1 and Gain2 pins.
