So, what’s the difference between the MLP and the MLS capacitor types? The MLP has an aluminum case that limits it’s maximum temperature to 85°C. Above 85°C the case expands and stretches its 0.5 inch dimension. Users can operate the MLP to 105°C if they clamp it to hold it flat, and can operate to 125°C clamped to hold it flat and 20% lower voltage. The MLS case is stainless steel and so the case does not stretch and users can use it at 125°C.
